Poetry in Anacostia – Washington, DC
One goal for my blog is to add the ongoing readings in the DC area. If you know of a reading series I should know about, please leave information about it in the comments below. The information I’d like to see is: name of series, when it happens (third Wednesdays, etc), time, location with an address, website link.
Alan King wrote to let me know about a poetry reading series in Anacostia. For anyone in the DC area, Anacostia has long been a forgotten part of the city. It’s now getting a makeover and artists seem to be moving in and shaking things up.
The reading series is every first and third Wednesday. You can read his article about the previous attempts to bring poetry east of the Anacostia river (PDF) and how the American Poetry Museum, which sponsors the Intersections reading series, is reviving the work of a former institution.
