Kramfors Sofa
First, the baby is okay now. I should have made that more clear in my last post.

Second, we bought a Kramfors sofa from IKEA. It floats, it’s beautiful, it comes in chocolate-brown leather. The first sofa arrived. You’re supposed to report problems within 48 hours. At hour 47, we noticed that the supports inside the sofa were completely broken. We called right away. Waited. Eventually, they said they’d bring a new one. We were delighted even though we had to wait a whole week for the new one to arrive. I left the house to get to a meeting after it arrived. Once I got home, DH pointed to all the problems on Sofa Number Two. The seam is splitting on the seat back. The movers hired by IKEA dropped it and dented the armrest, and there are mysterious dents elsewhere like someone poked the leather with pens. We are returning the sofa and will have to start our search anew. I’m disappointed. Although I realize this is just a sofa, we were extremely pleased with the color, the lines and the modern look. The Kramfors went well with our 50s Heywood-Wakefield furniture.
A lot of people conduct google searches on the Kramfors sofa, so I thought I’d write about it here for people to learn what happened to one couple who tried to buy it.
I think I’m done with IKEA for now. We bought an IKEA vanity for the bathroom, and that hasn’t fallen apart. However, our previous sofa was from IKEA, and the too-thin fabric began to show holes after only 9 years of service. A good-quality sofa should last longer than 9 years. Honestly, I would have kept that sofa until I died, because I loved it so much.
Any ideas where to find a nice chocolate-brown modern sofa in the DC area? Please don’t say Chicago.
